About
Navigating the challenges of cognitive decline and neurological conditions is one of the most trying times a family could ever experience—fear, loss of independence, discomfort, and overwhelm for the patient; frustration, exhaustion, financial strain, loss of hope and balance for the caregivers.
There is very little that our conventional medical model currently offers, and we often feel like we’re left to figure it out on our own. You may have been told, “There’s nothing we can really do at this stage,” or something along the lines of, “You can try x, y, and z medication. It may help. It may not. Here are all of the side effects. It takes a couple of months to know if it’s working.” Meanwhile, in those couple of months, the daily struggle drags on until the process begins again with another medication that doesn’t quite help either. And so the cycle continues. This is the reality that too many are facing…
What if there were a different approach? What if there could be more peace for both patients and caregivers?
It was my own journey that led me to discover the value of functional health and holistic approaches. In my late 20s, my life abruptly changed. I began to experience the decline in health of a loved one while simultaneously stepping into a top management role at my company. I became involved in caregiving over the next several years, juggling many responsibilities. Though being a competitive athlete for more than 15 years of my life had given me a foundation of mental fortitude, I had not yet developed the tools to cope with these particular pressures and shifts in roles. To put it nicely, I was thrust into an accelerated path of challenge and growth, and it wasn’t always pretty. As I took a deeper dive into the world of functional health and personal development, I received caring support, experienced masterful coaching, and learned tools that helped me improve my own health symptoms, get through this difficult time, and ultimately find more peace and purpose. I watched as functional medicine helped my family as well.
That experience and that purpose is why I’m here with you today.
I want to help patients and families advocate for themselves and become aware of the different options and modalities out there. Better yet, I want to be part of the solution to prevent this experience in the first place. As devastating as this type of situation may be, there is hope to be found, and there are better ways of overcoming these challenges.
So how can I help as a functional health coach?
I use my unique skillset and experience to:
- Help patients and families break down the complex protocols and lifestyle changes prescribed by practitioners into manageable steps
- Empower patients and caregivers to get the support that they feel is best for them
- Support caregivers in bringing more energy and balance back into their lives
- Offer tools and resources to transform fear and challenges into hope and purpose
Just as the functional health model takes a whole systems approach to treating the individual, I believe in a whole family systems approach in navigating this experience. I’m ready to walk alongside you in this journey whether you are a patient implementing your practitioner’s protocols, a caregiver experiencing ever-changing challenges, or someone working on protecting and upgrading your brain.
